Gordon Brown

We are very fortunate to have snagged Gordon Brown as the speaker for the Feb. club meeting (thanks to Gill and Mike).

He’s been called “one of the best known and most revered coaches in the sea kayaking business” and he’s coming to the Comox Valley Paddler Club’s meeting on February 2nd.

Gordon Brown has produced several instructional videos and written a book “Sea Kayak” for intermediate to advanced level paddlers. Last year he completed a Masters degree in Performance Coaching and holds the highest awards within British Canoeing (formerly BCU). As well as being a sea kayaker, he also kayaks white water and coaches at the highest level in both disciplines. His kayaking has taken him around the world and he is a featured speaker at many kayak symposia.

Gordon will speak of his kayaking life, with emphasis on paddling Scotland and the Isle of Skye, where he lives and works. The talk will also feature Greenland, the home of the modern kayak.

Along with his wife Morag, he runs Skyak Adventures offering tripping and instruction on the west coast of Scotland. They are spending five months on Vancouver Island visiting family and writing a second book. skyakadventures.com seakayakwithgordonbrown.com
