  • –  This club paddle is for ladies only. Sorry, gentlemen!
  • –  Please keep in mind that the weather, wind and water release at Comox Lake are quite unpredictable this time of the year. I reserve the right to cancel the paddle on Thursday morning if I deem the conditions unsafe for the group. For that reason RSVP is required.
  • –  I’m volunteering as a coordinator for this club trip. This is neither a guided tour nor a lesson. All participants are responsible for any and all of their decisions and actions on the water.
  • –  The river water is around 5°C right now. For the safety of themselves and the group it is important that participants have taken a rescue class and paddle a boat with positive flotation.
  • –  Immersion gear with according layering is recommended (drysuit or wetsuit/paddling top combo), layers of synthetic clothing and/or merino wool combined with rain pants and jacket will work. Absolutely no cotton, please!!!
  • –  Don’t forget appropriate protection for feet, hands and head.
  • –  Bring a thermos with hot tea and snacks to keep you warm and energized.
  • –  Solid foam PFDs (no inflatables, please) must be worn for this paddle and all boats must be equipped with the Transport Canada / Canadian Coast Guard required safety gear.
  • –  Participants have to sign the trip release. Guests are welcome if they meet the above requirements, sign the guest waiver and pay the $10 insurance fee (

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!

Hope to see you on the water
