Comox Paddler’s Club Trip – Coordinator’s Description
Destination: Fanny Bay Government Dock to Ships Point Park paddle. Bring your dinner to eat during our stop at the park. Max 10 cars.
Date: Time: Wednesday Sept 15, 2021 for a 4:00 p.m. launch
Meeting Place: Fanny Bay Government Dock
Located on Highway 19A just across form Station road. It is about 2 km south of Buckley Bay or 1 km north of the Fanny Bay Inn. We need a high tide for this paddle. Please be ready to launch at 4:00 p.m.
Note: There is no washroom at the launch spot. The nearest washrooms are at Buckley bay or the Fanny Bay Inn. There is an outhouse at the Ships Point stop.
Description: Length of Trip (hours/days):
Return trip is about 4.2 nm., approximately 45 to 60 minutes each way. We will paddle south from the Fanny Bay government dock around ships point and land at the Ships Point park. The stop will be long enough eat whatever you have brought along for dinner. There is only one bench so you might want to bring a chair. We will take the same route back to our starting point. Sunset is at 7:48.
Trip Rating: Level 2a – Day Paddle–Intermediate. For both Kayak and Canoe Wind can come up quickly in this channel which contains rock gardens; if you are not comfortable with
