Comox Paddlers Club Trip Coordinators Description
Destination: Winchelsea Islands ( Lantzville )
Date: Sunday, July 14, 2019.
Time: 9:30 AM. (Early start to get parking space; try to carpool if possible.
Meeting Place: Sebastion Beach. vFrom Courtenay drive south on 19A to Superior Rd. in Lantzville. Turn left on Superior Rd. Drive past the Firehall and turn right on to Lantzville Rd. At approx. 1.35kms, you will come to Sebastion Rd. Turn left on to Sebastion Rd. and drive to the end. If the parking is full go one more block on Lantzville Rd to Harper Rd. Turn left and drive to the end. The two roads are only 200m apart.
Description: The Winchelsea Islands are six islands off of Lantzville with many coves and shallow waters with great sea life viewing. There are two nice beaches; one to stop and have lunch and do a bit of exploring. On the way back, stop for a rest at the other one, on Southey Island before returning to Sebastion Beach. After the loading of the boats we could go to the Lantzville Pub for some refreshments and bite to eat.
Length of Trip: The total distance for a good exploration of the islands is about 15kms. And the duration with the breaks will be about 7 hours.
