Fun Kayak Skills Games and Orca Sighting followed by a potluck BBQ
Launch is from Donna and Tom’s house, 4134 Gartley Point Road.
The tide will be high all evening; please arrive by 4:30 for a 5:00 launch. We will need to shuttle vehicles down to the water a couple at a time, offload the boats, then park your cars nose-in on Gartley Road. At 5:00 we will launch and have some fun kayak games to test your skills just off our beach – the games are from the Pacific Paddling Symposium. At 6:00ish we will wrap up the games and paddle south past Gartley Beach, the Kingfisher Spa and end up near the Spindrift shore where a breaching Orca sighting is guaranteed. Upon return we will have the BBQ ready to fire up and have a potluck and social evening. Please bring lawn chairs for the evening.
Total paddle length not including the games is 4-5 km return.
What to bring:
1. Your boat and paddling gear
2. Whatever you want to put on the BBQ – meat, veggie burger or whatever
3. A salad, appetizer or side dish to share
4. Whatever you want to drink
5. A lawnchair
