Destination: Campbell River Estuary. Meet at the playground just past the Thunderbird Campsite on Spit Road. (Spit Road goes behind Canadian Tire) https://www.google.ca/maps/@50.039114,-125.249762,15.25z?hl=en
Date: Wednesday, September 18, 2024
Time: Please be ready to paddle at 4:30 PM. High tide is at 5:15
Description: We will paddle around in the estuary and up the Campbell River. There are two channels that run up beside the main river and at a high tide they can be paddled. The channels connect with the main river channel far enough up that we will get to run down river with a fairly strong current. Come with a spirit of adventure because the channels are not always the same due to trees down or other obstacles, but they never completely stop us. We will also have time to explore other parts of the estuary. We have been doing this now for the last few years and it is a great paddle. There are likely to be lots of salmon in the river.

Max. People: No limit
Other Conditions: The weather will have to be quite bad before we will cancel as wind is not so much an issue in the estuary.
Notes: The Campbell River estuary has largely been restored from many of the industries that used to line its shores. It is impressive to see. If you haven’t done this paddle before don’t miss it.
