Comox Paddler’s Club Trip Coordinator’s Description 

Destination: Goose Spit Moonlight Madness

Date: Wednesday, Aug, 30, 2023

Time: 7:00 pm paddles in the water

Meeting Place: Inside of Goose Spit just below the washrooms

Description: Launch on the inside of the spit; paddle along the shoreline and stop at the end of the spit to watch the sunset (8:08 pm); paddle around the end of the spit to watch the moonrise (8:28 pm) 1090 ESE; take boats out of the water on the outside shore and carry across the road to cars.

Length of Trip (hours/days): approx.. 2 hours

Rating:  1 (1= Day Paddle–Easy. 2=Day Paddle–Intermediate. 3=Day Paddle–Advanced. 4=Tripping.)

Other Conditions: We will be finishing after sunset so adequate lights are required (some form of 3600) A good head lamp works quite well. Wearing reflective clothing is desirable. Don’t forget to use those reflective strips you were given!!

Notes: This is the second blue “Super Moon” of the month which is very unusual. The timing works well for seeing a sunset and moonrise at basically the same time making this an extra special evening at the spit.
