Comox Paddler’s Club Trip Coordinator’s Description
Destination: Royston Wrecks shoreline paddle towards Puntledge River
Date: Wed. July 5, 2023
Time: Arrive at 5:30 pm. On the water at 6 pm.
Meeting Place: Royston boat launch (Marine Drive near Royston Road). Low tide is at 2 pm and
high tide at 9 pm.
Description: The plan is to launch at Royston boat launch, next to Royston Picnic area, paddle
north towards Puntledge river. We will be stopping at Courtenay Marine Park for washroom and
stretch legs break. We will then paddle through Culvert at Air Park and maybe up Millard Creek if
we have time.
Length of Trip: 2.5 to 3 hrs
Rating: 1 = Day Paddle–Easy. The tide will be flooding with us on the paddle towards Puntledge
and then we will be paddling against the flood on our return home.
Coordinator: Barbara Robson. See Membership List for contact info.
Max. People: If more than 12 people participate, I will ask other club members to assist with group safety e.g. lead, sweep.
Other Conditions: The tide will be against us on our return home, so need to be ready for a harder
return paddle.
Notes: Sunsets at 9:30 The paddle will be cancelled if there are wind warnings. The winds would
add to difficulty of paddle return home with the tides being against us as well.
